A propos de Sylvain Luc
Sylvain Luc began playing guitar and violin and cello at the Bayonne Conservatory. In 1988, he worked as an arranger, composer, and accompanist of artists while playing jazz as a bassist in the Richard Galliano Trio and a guitarist with Eric Le Lann.
Luc worked with some of the greatest musicians, including Michel Legrand, Elvin Jones, Manu Katché, Stéphane Belmondo and more.
His first album, “Piaia” was followed by “Petit Déjà”, a duet with Louis Winsberg. Sylvain Luc recorded duets, bands (the Sylvain Luc Trio Sud won a “Victoire de la Musique”). He recorded a second solo album, “Ambre”, followed by tours in Europe and South America.
In 2008, he won the “Django d’Or”. After the release of his solo album "Standards", Sylvain received the SACEM Jazz Prize in 2010. In 2011, Michel Legrand gave him the Django Reinhardt prize of the Jazz Academy.
In 2013, "Souvenirs d’enfance" came out. Sylvain makes a clever bridge between childhood and adulthood. In 2014 he presented his project with Stefano di Battista, Pierre François Dufour, and Daniele Sorrentino "Giu 'La Testa". They revisit Ennio Morricone and Michel Legrand movies soundtracks.
In 2015, Sylvain Luc released a tribute to Edith Piaf, "La Vie en Rose", in duet with Richard Galliano. In 2016, “Intranquille” with Bernard Lubat came out. Sylvain is also developing a parallel training, dedicated to improvisation between classical and jazz music, with Marylise Florid. They released “D’une rive à l’autre” together in 2019.
