A propos de Begotten

There is no doom truer or heavier than Begotten from NYC: A combination of thunderous and haunting bass, primal, heavy hitting percussion and raw, electric sawmill guitar riffs, the power trio formed in 1997 and recorded one full-length album in 2000 on the legendary Man’s Ruin Label just before the label went under. At the same time Begotten’s lead guitar/vocalist Matt Anselmo was diagnosed with throat cancer, and bassist Amanda Topaz lost 75% of her hearing and had to undergo surgery. Drummer Rob Sefcik – formerly Electric Frankenstein - went on to play with the band Kings Destroy.

After a fifteen-year hiatus during which Amanda never ventured to touch her bass but instead risked her life daily doing aerial performance work while Matt slowly convalesced, Begotten was reawakened in October, 2016 – we persevere to bring you new, plodding riffs from a heart that has slowly begun to beat again. Feed us fresh blood so we can grow strong. We dare you to open your soul to the music of that which refuses to die.

Doom on –
Doomed on,

Begotten.
