Namek

Namek was born in 1998, by the hand of Simao Santos and Vitor Mendes, as a drum-machine side-project. In late 2000, they recorded their first material, two demos that would be later released under the pseudonym Ultrapodre, on a split tape with canadian grind freaks Fuck The Facts. But due to musical differences, this line-up didn't last.

In December 2001, Simão joined forces with ex-Grog drummer Beto and guitarist Alex.
During the spring of 2003, the band recorded a track for the Gut Tribute cd, under American Line Productions. In the summer of 2003, Paulo (ex-Carnification) joined Namek as a 2nd guitarist. In late 2005, Simao decided to focus only on vocals and Samuel filled in the bass slot.

2006 saw the band playing some gigs in Portugal. Samuel was no longer in the band, so Nelson (PUSSYVIBES mastermind) joined the fold as a bassist. Soon after that, founding member Alex (guitar) decided to leave the band, and so Namek continued as a 4 piece. Soon after that, they were chosen for the opening slot for grind legends BRUTAL TRUTH. Around March, Marco (guitar) joined Namek, filling in for Alex, and the band went on to play the SWR Fest '08 in Barroselas, and the Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic.

Namek are now working on new material for the second CD, and looking for a label to release 4 new songs in EP or split EP format.
