Eighty Three Eighty was formed in September of 2010 by long time friends, Sheldon Vance and Foz Rotten, both regular fixtures of the West Virginia music scene, with ties dating back to the late nineties. Sheldon is best known for his previous band, Out Of Nowhere, who was together from 1999 to 2005, touring the United States multiple times and releasing several albums, both independently and on Blind Spot Records. Foz is probably best known for his work as solo artist, starting with a collaboration between himself and singer/songwriter, Swamp Rat, releasing the album “Appalachian Folk-Hop” in 2008. After the album’s release Foz consistently played shows through out the tri-state area, performing with both a DJ, and most recently a full band under the Foz moniker. In 2009 the band recorded “The Teaser (EP)”, and continued playing shows regularly until their break up in mid 2010. Eighty Three Eighty played their first show in early October of 2010, followed by a full string of shows finishing out the month, including spots on both the Rocktoberfest and Fest Of The Dead music festivals, the latter of which being the second out of three shows the band performed in a twenty-four hour period on Halloween weekend. The music has become known as “Acoustic Punk with heart”, a description that emphasizes the importance and energy that the band puts into their songs and live performance. With only one acoustic guitar and two vocalists, Sheldon and Foz have found a way to cut right to the point, truly connecting with the audience, by delivering the most intimate and high energy performance they possibly can, leaving it all on the stage every time they play.
