Loss is something measured in minutes, a test of endurance and strength which teaches us more about our resilience and resolve than anything else. For The Weak Days – a Richmond duo who has built their layered, winding guitar pop behind unending positivity – coming to terms with these changes and absences only resulted in a more focused, cathartic experience. Enter Tight, the band’s second proper release, and the first with the departure of these key forces in their process as individuals and musicians. With these departures come the addition of guests from across genre and state lines – Evan Thomas Weiss (Into It. Over It.), Carly Commando (Slingshot Dakota), and more – as well as the steadfast, granular production of Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios. Also venturing into this arena is a set of tracks that balance hubris with a sense of humor that double-dips in self-awareness and haunted maturity. And that’s tight.
