Maya de Vitry

What a great concert! Concert was sponsored by the Portland Folk Music Society. The venue was a small church. Most of the audience was not familiar with Maya de Vitry, but I have followed Maya since she departed from The Stray Birds. Joel Timmons on guitar joined Maya for this tour. The folks added padding to cover the glass windows that separated the lobby from the seating area. The sound was very good. Maya even played piano on one song. Maya performed "The Bridge" from the last Stray Birds CD ("Let It Pass"). About the only thing that would have made this concert better was more musicians joined. I have listened to a new album nearly every day for over 40 years and "Adaptations" and "How to Break a Fall" (Maya's first two solo albums) are among my top 10 favorite albums of the past decade. I enjoyed the stories about how the songs were created. I flew from Anchorage, Alaska to attend some concerts and this was the best.

We loved her sound, beautiful voice, great guitar work, but at least for us, a bit too much storytelling. It could have been tightened up. Still think she's great.

Maya is the kind of rock-solid artist who pours heart and soul into every moment. It's a real joy to watch her play.

It's easy to fall in love with a new musical find at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. This was the first I'd heard of Maya, and I was quite enraptured. She was my new fave of the Festival. Loved her songs and her delivery of them!

Maya and her dynamic acoustic band delivered her poignant and inspiring songs with single-microphone intimacy and grace. A truly wonderful show at a friendly and laid-back venue.

Sweet and pure vocals and when she accompanied the Wood Brothers it was magical🤘

If you've never been to Awendaw Green, it's a must visit for a very casual, laid back venue outside. Lots of seating, food (Eddie's wood fired pizza's!) area's for kids to play, etc. As for the performance, Maya de Vitry's band hit it out of the park. Joel, Ethan and Jason make up a great band on both electric and acoustic guitar and bass and drums. For a special treat Shelby Means was there and performed 2 songs with Maya. If you have never heard the amazing voice of Maya de Vitry, you have to put it on your bucket list! Maya is both an awesome songwriter and performer. You will not be disappointed.

Every minute of the show was amazing! Maya's songs are incredibly deep and meaningful and her talented band was totally in sync with one another. This was one of the most powerful shows I've ever experienced, the energy was palpable. I'm so thankful I was able to attend.

Just Fabulous! And what a great band. Alexa Rose was wonderful too as the opener and welcomed to preform with Maya too. A lot of love throughout that group!
