A propos de Don't Call Me Punk

In the fall of 2011, current members of the band Denzil Hamm, and Mykah Slawnyk joined together to combine their similar music interests. As a guitar and bass duo, they called themselves Clockwise Pacific. Over the course of their next 6 months, Clockwise wrote only two songs but had interest in pursuing a drummer to obtain the ability to deeper possibilities. After a short search, a drummer surfaced and led to the eventual end of Clockwise Pacific and the beginning to the new three piece band titled the Adolescents. The Adolescents stayed together with little success through the year of 2012, to the point where Mykah and Denzil decided that they were ready for something more professional. In the spring of 2013, the search for a definitive genre and new age drummer became the main goal. After months of searching and working with the soon to be drummer Jacob Roy, the three put their skills together and created Don’t Call Me Punk. It took no time at all for the three to have their sound perfectly tuned to each others playing styles and the band very quickly pushed into writing new music. At first, the battle between how to begin the music journey started when the band had three original tracks, and over 25 covers in their music repertoire. The band played only two shows between the initial startup, and their first big public appearance in the winter of 2015. Between their personal lives and schooling, the end to DCMP almost came at the beginning of summer 2015, when it had been months without a practice session, and even longer without a show. Sending tensions high and frustrations higher, the manager Alexander, (brother to Mykah) stepped in and made a big push to reunite and reboot the band that started with a passion for greatness. In August of 2015, the band officially entered the roster in the Madison Theater Band Challenge. As one out of the 72 tri-state bands competing, a series of four shows, decided over five months, through crowd votes and judge scoring ended in March of 2016 with Don't Call Me Punk placing 4th overall. A band from the growing town of Taylor Mill, Ky. Don't Call Me Punk plays an array of music genres but mainly focus on Pop Punk and Alternative styles.
