A propos de The Indecent

The Indecent make music that is aggressive, subtle, poetic, noisy, and quite often all these things at once. Influenced by Patti Smith, the Gits, the Velvet Underground, Barrett’s Floyd, and many Seattle-type things, the Indecent are Emily Brout (vocals), Madeline Brout (bass), Bo Brout (guitar), and Nicholas Burrows (drums). Emily, Maddy, and Bo are from New York City, and Nicholas is from Windsor, Ontario. Maddy, Emily, and Bo were born on the same day, Nicholas on a very different day. Both Canada and the United States operate under the Georgian Calendar, which, of course, is a revision of the Julian Calender. The Indecent played their first show in August of 2009, and self-released their first album, Her Screwed Up Head, in the late summer of 2010. The album was produced by Tim Sommer (Hugo Largo, Glen Branca Ensemble) and engineered by Mark Dearnley (AC/DC, the Damned, Paul McCartney). The band shot and released two videos from that album (“25 Steps” and “Soybean”). Both of these were directed by the amazing Noah Hutton. In the summer of 2010, the band recorded additional tracks with producers Julian Raymond and Tim Sommer. Two of these, “Lucky Ones” and a revised version of “Her Screwed Up Head,” were subsequently turned into videos, also directed by Hutton. These tracks came to the attention of Rob Cavallo at Warner Bros Records. Rob soon decided to sign the band, and the Indecent became Cavallo’s first signing as Chairman of Warner Bros. In the Summer of 2011, The Indecent went into the studio in Los Angeles with Producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Paramore), with Julian Raymond and Tim Sommer standing close by. The album was completed in September, just in time for the band to play their first-ever gigs in the U.K. Non-stop trans-Atlantic jet service was introduced on October 4, 1958, 36 years before Maddy, Emily, and Bo were born, 37 years before Nicholas was born, and almost exactly 53 years before the Indecent flew into Heathrow. The album, which expands upon the Indecent’s beautiful and profane noise, will be released in the spring of 2012. Until then, the band are regularly playing shows and watching a lot of Dr. Who and The Mighty Boosh. http://theindecent.bandcamp.com Write us at theindecentpersonal@gmail.com
