Drawing on music-hall and vaudeville traditions, Skinner & T’witch combine original comedy and satire with folk, flamenco and theatre-style songs.
Skinner & T’witch have been on the road since 2014; released five albums; and have performed widely around the UK. They have toured both in Australia and the US. They have been described as ‘a pair of comic geniuses’ by The Living Tradition magazine.
Skinner & T'witch's sixth album, their excursion into folk-rock, ‘The Songcatcher’, is in the pipeline for release in the summer.
Steve Skinner has a background in musical theatre, world music and comedy, whilst Sandra Twitchett (T'witch) has a background in classical and folk-rock music.
You can watch videos of some of Skinner & T’witch’s songs via their You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCshnCO_5ZEZxBE5QPGMjs5w
'Some things just work. Skinner and T’witch are one of those things. Lakefest
‘Skinner & T’witch are unique: there is nobody to compare them with’. The Living Tradition, Scotland
'Probably the most unconventional duo in folk music'. RnR Magazine, England
'Sandra and Steve brought us a fantastic evenings entertainment, with a great mix of songs, choruses to join in with, and lots of laughs too. We can't wait to have this very talented couple back'. Dunfermline Folk Club, Scotland
'With a set of humour, theatricality and superb songs, Skinner & T'witch performed with warmth, professionalism and panache. Steve and Sandra engage with their audience, making their performance a proper entertainment. And if you like chorus songs, they’ve got some of those too. All in all, a great evening’s entertainment. Tonbridge Folk Club, England
'Skinner & T'witch went down a storm, with their mixture of entertaining, funny and insightful songs. The audience joined in enthusiastically with the choruses, and their after show feedback was positive and enthusiastic. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining evening'. The Forest of Dean Folk Club, England
'It was a joy to have Skinner & T'witch perform for us. We had some good chuckles, brief interludes of pathos, and perhaps even occasional bathos, some bits to join in with, and we all left with a glow. What more could you ask?' Bracknell Folk Club, England
'Maldon Folk Festival holds moments of gently undulating harmonious joy such as the UK’S entertaining Skinner & T'witch, who charmed their audiences with captivating melodies'. CultureMad Magazine, Melbourne, Australia
‘Skinner & T'witch possess a rare talent that can totally captivate an audience. With witty social commentary, deft comedic timing and a flair for theatrics, they conjure up images of an old English Music Hall performance. Their songs are pleasing in both a melodic and lyrical way'. Folk Fury, KTEP, El Paso, Texas, USA
'Finding musicians who can combine virtuosity with humour is rare. Skinner & T’witch are such a talent. Their songs can elicit laughter while being thought provoking. The music runs the gamut from joyful celebration to sincere social criticism to deep heartfelt emotion'. The Small Time Radio Show, CKOL 93.7 FM, Campbelltown, Ontario, Canada
'The UK’s Skinner & T’witch are a pair of talented performers whose charm lies in their song stylings that range from comedy, folk and folk-rock to theatre and flamenco. Each performance is captivating, with their clever banter as well as the music. Sandra’s superb voice and Steve’s supportive vocals recreate a “music hall” atmosphere. This unique act has something for everyone'. Freewheeling Folk Show 93.3 CFMU, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
'If you get the chance to see them anywhere, please do yourself a favour, grab it with both hands'. Leith Folk Club, Edinburgh, Scotland
'If you get the chance to see them - take it. A wonderful, eclectic set royally entertained the audience. Our advice is book them if you can, and don't miss them if they are playing anywhere near you.' Ulverston Live Music, Cumbria, England
'Definitely a melodical phenomenon'. The Narrowboat Sessions, England
