Rodney was extremely funny and entertaining. I was kind of disappointed that he stayed on for only an hour but I can understand he feeds off audience participation. I love how he tells stories so well while including the comedy in it. Totally awesome show and I laughed a lot! I will definitely go to another of his concerts.

VENUE: HARD TO SEE THE PERFORMANCE (including the monitors)!!
SHOW HALL: SEAT Silver LC B9
Large FLAT SHOW AREA : 250' x 200'
Padded FOLDING CHAIRS in a layout shown in Ticket Advertising
Lighting gang bars BLOCKED the Video Monitors (2) partially from my seated position
SOUND VERY GOOD: Balance and level managed well
BEER SOLD both at the gates and in the hall proper
(Kinda rare in a Tribal establishment, but welcome).
SHOW CONTENT:
THE Austin 'Fluffer' was ineffective - Did not establish any connection to MOST of the audience. IF the story he told was for judging the 'mood' of those attending, it failed. The fluffier should have told something where he was not assuming a: well behaved; kindly; easily shocked; group attending the show (we were drunk, in a Casio!!). I witnessed the fluffer entering the 'side-stage' door prior to this show (appearing a little stoned/drunk). He showed-up on-stage 'un-interested' (as in, I get paid no matter what). Might want to look at this in particular.
RODNEY: I enjoyed the performance (nice to see you live) although you SHOULD have stood on a box for better viewing! The opening sequence with animated characters (NO THIS - CAN'T DO THAT) deflated the room. Most (as was I) were ready to 'show them to you', (singular in my case) but between the 'fluffer' and those announcements, you were left with an VERY uphill battle.
SIR, IMHO you have funny stuff and yet you drifted into melancholy about aging (some funny observations there, but it got a little boring). You have been doing this for (you mentioned) like 34 years and you have a truly vast quantity of more 'good' stuff. FYI: Squirrels in the cemetery, visiting grandma, is not funny stuff.
I look forward to the opportunity to see you again, in a better venue and 'wilder' circumstance.
OVERALL A Clean Casio.. BUSY.. All Slots with mid-sized Bingo Hall. NO TABLE GAMES.
STAFF: Well trained / GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - BUT NOT a GREAT VENUE for your show!

I finally got to see Rodney Carrington after a decade or more. The show exceeded all my expectations. My stomach hurt from laughing so much. He had all new material. I wish my husband had accompanied me instead of my SIL, because it was geared toward couples and men aging in the most hilarious way. I can't wait until he comes back my way.
The venue was absolutely gorgeous. The Carolina Theater was so beautiful that I'm going to another event just to show my husband.
