A propos de The Simmertones

UPDATE 2016: New single Run For Your Life released on Friday 25th March 2016! The Simmertones' latest release 'Something For The Weekend?' has won Best Album of 2013 at the South West Music Awards! http://www.thesimmertones.co.uk/store-2/?model_number=sftwCD Buy it here! Or you can download from most online stores! The Simmertones have been together since 2007 and have quickly become festival favourites in their native South West UK, building a strong following across the region’s music venues. The band's first album "Presenting the Simmertones, Volume 1”, featuring a wild reworking of the Dr Who theme tune was recorded under the guidance of Richard Digby Smith who has previously worked with the likes of Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, Sparks and Free at Island Records. The album picked up great reviews and airplay throughout 2010 in the UK, Europe and beyond, including plays on Mikey Davies’ show on BBC Radio 1 and Mark Lamarr’s “God’s Jukebox” on Radio 2. The band returned to the studio in early 2011 to record a new EP. Made up of 2 new Simmertones originals and 2 classic covers, this recording also features guitar contributions from Steve Cradock of Ocean Colour Scene/Paul Weller fame and solo performer in his own right. Our debut album is out and available for download on iTunes and Amazon or from our website if you want the CD itself. Check out the gig list for where we're appearing next and watch a video if you don't know what ska is! “These guys are bloody roasting!” - Roddy Radiation Byers, The Specials "The Simmertones’ new EP is a modern classic" - Jon Allen, recording artist “A cool mix of impressive self-penned tunes & stomping cover versions” - Kev Flowerdew, Do The Dog Records "The Simmertones' performances are full of verve and creativity that underscore a keen understanding of and deep respect for the musical genre they are operating within (…) Be sure to keep The Simmertones on your radar, this is a terrific debut and we can only hope that there's much more to come" - Duff Guide to Ska “It's a sign of the quality of this record that it's not always immediately clear which are their own compositions and which are covers(...) Get it while it's hot because this one's a scorcher (…) Pure genius!" - Scootering Magazine "The Simmertones are beyond upbeat and you'd have to be comatose to not find your foot tapping to their horn-heavy take on the Dr Who theme – 5/5" - Big Cheese Magazine "Lots of harmonies and traditional Jamaican sounds; horns aplenty, luscious organs and a no worries vibe" - Punktastic.com ”In the studio with these guys is up there with my Island Sessions” - Richard Digby Smith, Island Records Ska - Authentic ska - and a dash of reggae too
