Dr. Woggle & the Radio

Everyone who’s ever seen the band on stage or heard them on CD already knows that this reggae really rocks! From Dr. Woggle & the Radio’s third album’s title it’s obvious what they are: Rockers!

With Dr. Woggle & the Radio you’ll get a full reggae sound with its deep roots in rocksteady, ska and soul music. It’s bang, in your face, pumping through your veins like lava and then flows away leaving behind the feeling of last-summer-nostalgia.
The Caribbean in the centre of Europe? That’s right! These seven guys come straight from Weinheim, in southern Germany – The town with the most days of sun per year in the whole country; as well as having the biggest concentration of offbeat-addicts per square mile. Making reggae was a natural choice for the guys as they grew up.
„Rockers!”is the third album from the band who have successfully spread their own version of reggae music over the last 10 years. The elements which have made people purr at festivals and concerts from Germany to France, the Benelux, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Italy, have now been pressed on vinyl.
„Rockers!” combines the strengths of the former albums „Suitable“, (2001, Elmo Rec./ SPV) and „Bigger is tough“ (2003, Grover Records / SPV): It’s an easygoing groove with roots in the traditional music of Jamaica but still individual and recognisable anywhere. Dr. Woggle & the Radio is a great sound for parties, warm and earthy, retro but still here and now.

Besides the doctor and his radio some other great musicians were involved in the recordings: Mal Elévé (Irie Revoltés), Jesse Günther (The Busters), Stefan Keller (The Busters) and Lolo Blümler (Ska Trek) – which shows that Weinheim is the capital of German Reggae – Rockers Reggae!
