Perched high in the dead heart of an insignificant city, The Central Hotel of Shellharbour is not a venue synonymous with live touring bands. This did not matter to the clusters of faithful fans who patiently huddled around in the Events room and politely enjoyed the support bands. This was to be another exciting RedHook experience, aurally resplendent and riding the triumph of opening recent festivals in Europe. They took a moment to bond with the locals of Shl'arbour and admonish the local Roni's (apologetically) before encouraging circle pits and the wall of death. No pillow fights on this show but a request for the crowd to chant lyrics for a new song, as yet unformed, shapeless. Rest assured it contains the lyrics "Fuck You" ad nauseam. But this is RedHook - they are a mirror into the soul of the restless emos of this country, they are loud and exciting and polite and fractured and cheerful, and they are a force that you cannot deny.
