The Red Room @ Cafe 939
Red Room at Cafe 939 is Berklee College of Music’s intimate, all-ages performance space located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay. With a capacity of about 200, the Red Room offers music fans the rare chance to experience world-class artists and rising talent up close.
The venue reflects Berklee’s vibrant musical community, presenting an eclectic mix of genres—from rock, jazz, and folk to hip-hop, bluegrass, global music, and experimental sounds. Over the years, the Red Room stage has welcomed artists such as Young the Giant, Hozier, Tyler Childers, Snarky Puppy, and Tori Kelly, along with standout performances from Berklee students and alumni.
Known for its exceptional sound and welcoming atmosphere, the Red Room is also a hands-on learning environment where Berklee students work alongside professional engineers and production teams to deliver high-quality live shows.
Unless otherwise noted, concerts are standing room only. While alcohol is not served at the venue, the Red Room sits in one of Boston’s most lively neighborhoods, surrounded by great restaurants and cafés—perfect for making a night out of the show.

Concert was great, but the stage at this venue was way too low for an artist who was seated most of the time. I could not see Rio for most of the concert!
