Awesome show!

I've seen Diana Krall in concert twice before - last time was June 2017 - and this was a very different show. I wished I would have looked at reviews from back in 2018. Unfortunately, my experience was very consistent with those reviews; it's concerning to say the least.

Diana and her superb band played a show that quite literally included laughter and tears. "If I'm pausing a lot, I'm just overcome. I'm so happy. This is the first time that we have played on a live stage since November 2018." Diana's smoky voice was in perfect form; I always marvel at how she can belt it out and then bring it down to a whisper (all while being on perfect pitch). She also does the same thing on piano- at times she hits the keys with joyful exuberance and energy, and then she so lightly strokes the keys that they barely make a sound (a feat that is difficult to achieve- try it!). The entire concert is performed without having to look at music. Since this was the first performance on her American tour, she admittedly forgot a few of the song lyrics- giggling and laughing into the microphone (continuing to play the songs) and saying to the audience "well, you know the words, we'll play the music." This was the first concert I had seen since 2019 and it was an emotional experience- to be in a collective group that loves the same music, feeling the energy of the crowd, feeding off of the superb quality of the artists on stage. Thank you Diana for waking us up from the pandemic and giving us a ray of hope.
