Davina and the Vagabonds have never disappointed. What a great show. You feel the connection on a personal level. You can tell they really enjoy what they do by watching the playful interactions of the band members.
Surly Grrly is that local band that's seemingly everywhere. With opening gigs for bands like The Dollyrots, Vial, and Skating Polly it was great to see them headline a show of their own. The band plays mostly originals with a few covers filling out the set. Having been to multiple Surly Grrly shows I can say the show is always different but always great. They sing, they play, and they scream and they mean every single word of it.

Astounding. I first saw her at the Cedar Cultural Center 8 years ago at the suggestion of a coworker. I had only heard her name peripherally and knew it from my college friend’s mix tape which had a Loudon Wainwright III song on it. The Cedar Cultural center show was eye opening. I was witnessing someone channeling a raw force through near effortless talent with a depth that was at once immediate, staggering, and undeniably tied to the realest of the real. I don’t know why but I sort of forgot about her because my life took a turn downward. Fast forward 8 years, and I began listening to her debut album again because once again my life was in a whirlwind, and I found myself in the throes of a romantic situation that was unreciprocated and I was spinning and hurting and I listened to “These Flowers” over and over and over for days and weeks and saw she was coming to town in support of the 20th year anniversary of her debut, and I went, and man…what an absolutely disarming force of nature Martha Wainwright is. The songs and the mix and her personable nature and the super intimate crowd was the perfect mix. Her voice is singular and her talent is up there with all of the greats, and she moves through all of it with such grace and confidence and humble demeanor, I was struck and in awe. The cover she did of her brother Rufus’s song “Dinner At 8” stole the show. Astounding. Seriously. I don’t give out compliments very often, and this show was the highlight of my last 3 years. She deserves a national stage and wider recognition.

100.
I’d never been to the Hook and Ladder or to a Mike Zito show before. Both were great. I was amazed at Mike’s guitar playing and the rest of the band was excellent.
Absolutely spectacular as usual. These guys are right up there with the Stones, the Black Crowes, the Faces, and so on. Just go - you will not be disappointed - your jaw will be on the floor.
This was my second time seeing them. They were Fantastic!!! Especially their last song, cover from Neil Young's Down By The River, and High And Humble!
Toby was amazing as usual!! Outstanding venue, very intimate, and the sound was great!! Her soulful voice, guitar playing, and storytelling leaves you feeling on top of the world. She is an incredible talent- we would loved to have sat there all night!!
What an Amazing show. Davy Knowles shreds his guitar like no one I've ever seen!
The Steepwater band was Fantastic too! If you love Great guitar playing, go see both of these bands!!
White men from the south naming white supremacist systems and demanding their persistent dismantling. Lee Bains iii is a lovely cis white man, talked to him at length after the show.
