Sam always seems to be on his game. His ability to connect with us fans on an emotional level and draw us into his performance and interpretation of his songs felt spiritual in the very best sense. And I have to say, the shadow puppetry was mind-blowing. The running movie those girls provided to the soundtrack of the setlist was mind-blowing. This is the 6th or 7th time I’ve seen Iron and Wine, and though I’ve loved every previous performance, this was truly one for the books.
It was the best concert I've ever been to! Forrest’s music has helped me through the lowest moments in my life, and hearing him live was a truly surreal experience! To see everyone come together and praise Jesus while having fun at the same time is truly inspiring! Being a part of that is a true testament to what God is doing for Forrest and His children! I hope Forrest will continue to do God’s work because GREATER things are coming! Thank you, Forrest! 🤍🙏🏾
Unbelievable! I saw her 8 years ago as well in Detroit and she is just one of those artists that stop you in your tracks and you just feel fortunate to heard her in person ! Probably the greatest female singer I have ever seen live and I’ve seen a ton over the years ! Thank you Idina your are incredible ! Your what music is all about !
My Morning Jacket rocks! They played for almost 2 hours straight without any real breaks and didn’t let up. Such a deep catalogue to draw from at this point too. They couldn’t get to every cut I might have wanted, but I didn’t care, as I just wanted to hear them play. And always an attractive and convenient venue there in Detroit.
Bad Religion and Social D were amazing. Great sound, their voices have held up well through the years. Masonic Temple venue disappointing. One bathroom for men's room and limited bar selection. 20 minute wait in line to go to bathroom, so avoided drinking to limit my trips. Hallway was incredibly tight and crowded to walk through, much more room in General Admission floor in front of stage. I have seen Bad Religion a few times, and would see them again!
In no world does social distortion open for bad religion. Least of all a small venue in Detroit where people were still lined up to get in when they started. Mike needs to take the reins here and just assign bad religion opening duties. They are not on the same level and when a ticket costs $45 plus outrageous $22 fees, I don’t want to miss even a minute of social d!
I gave 3 stars because the show was at the masonic temple. The venue was a hot mess. I'll assume the ticket sales weren't enough to fill the main auditorium. We were informed days before the concert that the auditorium was changed to the Cathedral...IT WAS HORRIBLE!! you could tell that auditorium hadn't been open in a long time. The seats were old and we were sitting in Row K on freaking springs. To top off the horrible venue, there were 3 people in front of us that stood up 90%of the concert..the other 10% THEY WERE SITTING ON THE ARM OF THE CHAIR
IT WAS LIKE LISTENING TO THE RADIO BECAUSE WE COULDN'T SEE HIM.
NOW...The performance was outstanding. The Shandellas opened up for him and were the background singers..OMG, MAGNIFICENT!! October London put on an awesome show..his voice, his stage presence, his smooth sound was all I wanted, needed and received. He definitely did not disappoint. He's definitely too good for that hot mess venue. I hope he returns and at a different venue. I will definitely return to hear him. I LOVE OCTOBER LONDON!!!!! I really wish there was a CD to purchase. MULHOLLAND DRIVE..MY FAVORITE, EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING HE SUNG WAS PHENOMENAL.
Probably one of the best concert experiences I've ever had, Set it Off was super interactive with the fans, and the set list was super good!
Cody even came to the side of the stage me and my friend were sitting and gave us a hug
I would 100% go to another set it of concert in the future!!
Sabrina put on amazing show!! She is so down to earth and fun. Don't miss the opportunity to see her! The Masonic Temple in Detroit was a beautiful venue. We had the VIP experience and they pull out all the stops and we definitely felt like VIPs. The security team was amazing!!! They handed out free water bottles to keep everyone hydrated and healthy. Nice touch! Parking is right across the street, it was well lit and we felt very safe! Thank you for an amazing evening!! ❤️
Father John Misty puts on such a personal, magical, and fun show! His music is beautiful, and his voice fills the room. Everyone was in awe, including me! You can tell he believes in what he’s singing, and it’s very nice to see a artist like that. I was a fan, but now I truly am a huge supporter! Go see him, you won’t regret it. :-)
Venue was good, security was good, audience was good. Ryan was AWESOME!! just a few minutes shy of a three hour show. Only the second time seeing him and he was like he was before, funny, witty and the performance top notch. He played a piano version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow and it was BEAUTIFUL! Looking forward to seeing him again.
Went to two shows back-to-back and this one was on another level! As a Detroiter, and someone who acutely felt Radiohead avoiding Michigan for many years, I was happy for our city. This is not a show to be missed, the new material is amazing. The boys look great and really seem to be enjoying themselves and it’s a joy to witness as a longtime fan of over 20 years. The energy at this show was amazing, Thom was much more talkative and engaged with the audience compared to Toronto and the crowd was returning that energy wholeheartedly. He confirmed a second album, which we all know is coming, but it was good to hear it said!
Same set list as Toronto, which was a little bit of a bummer as I was hoping for Just Eyes and Mouth and Bodies Laughing, but it’s impossible to have any disappointment over such a tremendous show. YWNWITA feels like an acknowledgment & release of all the collective bullshit we’ve put up with since 2020, it physically feels good to experience it. And speaking of cathartic songs, Bending Hectic is just unbelievable, 7 minutes of being lulled by the most beautiful music before being assaulted with a big energetic finish.
As always, I got to reunite with my RH friends in line and met new ones. We have one of the most wholesome and genuinely nice fan communities in music. Band crew is always great too, everyone involved with anything related to Radiohead or the various members’ projects are always at the top of their game and it shows. So appreciative to everyone involved who goes on the road for weeks and months at a time and consistently make the magic happen every night.
Do not hesitate to see this show. If you’re looking for a sign, this is it. If you have to travel to get there, it’s worth it. If you feel weird about going alone, don’t. You will make new friends with impeccable music taste. Just go.
After seeing The Avett Brothers in Indy a few days later, I realized that this is very much an outdoor band that excels when in front of an audience that they truly connect with. They did not connect nearly to the same degree or play either the freedom, they seemed to embrace outdoors & with an audience they adore & vice-versa. This is truly a beautiful band!
The concert was AMAZING! The best I've seen in years. Robin Pecknold smiled frequently (what a beautiful and inspiring smile!) and was spontaneous and friendly. The interaction of the audience was a total inspirational bonding experience, exactly what we need after the pandemic (if I was 20 years younger . . . .). The band (and the touring brass section) was AWESOME! Uwade, and her participation in the Fleet Foxes portion of the concert was beyond words. If I had the time and money, I think I would just take a few months off and follow FF around North American, or wherever they want to go!
Bastille was amazing as always!!! I love the songs, energy, humor, kindness, etc. all mixed into one show. They really do interact with the crowd and are very engaging. Dan (lead singer, whose vocals were absolute perfection, occasionally plays keyboard or guitar) went into the crowd during Happier. The amount of energy Dan has is incredible. Kyle (keyboardist) hopped down and gave the drumstick he used to a little girl. Woody (drummer) wore the Pride flag from someone in the crowd. Will (bassist/guitarist) shined during Oblivion. The two stellar guest performers who have been on tour with them and are on some songs on the albums, etc.. - Bim (vocalist) had the crowd roaring after hearing her sing and Charlie (guitar, vocals) had us entertained with his musical ability, cool theatrics, and the sheer amount of energy he had.
This one was on my bucket list. One of the best experiences in years. Had my doubts - but if you're on the edge of going do not hesitate! Some tickets were cheaper the day or two before as this wasn't sold out - so depending on your venue grab them at the last minute and surprise your 'cool' friend(s) with the show. Even at our somewhat side angle the 3-D was awesome, but not overdone. Music was perfect. Great crowd. Thanks for stopping by Detroit Kraftwerk!!
What can you say about Jack White! Well he’s a true artist. He knows how to put together a set list that keeps the crowd excited for the entire show. He’s an amazing guitarist. And how crazy is it to have been part of music history watching him propose to his girlfriend on stage and subsequently get married right there on the spot during the encore! And of course you end the show with the most well know riff ever, seven nation army! Like I said, he knows how to create a set list! The opening bands were both fantastic and I will have to keep an eye on them as well.
Amazing show. Portugal. The Man rocking ICP-esque face paint and singing Dayman from IASIP was a pleasant surprise.
alt-J was fantastic and easily my favorite show so far this year. Really liked their stage setup/lights and effects. Also huge thumbs up for a nice spread of new music while also playing plenty of fan favorites from their first album.
Honestly, everyone at the show did a Fantastic job. James Ivy I was not expecting being as good as he was and he blew my expectations. Jai following made one of the best live sets I’ve ever seen. Porter as the main headliner made me cry multiple times and was just the best way to end my night. Would definitely come back to this venue and loved all the performers.
