EYE EMMA JEDI Biography

After storming into 2016 with their debut album ‘DNA’ in hand, Norway’s Lovespeake have already been hotly tipped across the international blogosphere, hitting radio stations around the globe and scoring additions to some of Spotify’s most influential playlists in North America, the UK, Europe, Asia and Scandinavia. In their short life span, Lovespeake have racked up over one million streams online and were playlisted on Norway's biggest radio station NRK P3 for 16 weeks straight. They were also recently selected as a Tidal Rising-artist. Their critically acclaimed debut album ‘DNA’, released via Norwegian label Toothfairy, got a stellar start in the US, topping CMJ’s college radio charts with a top five most added album. Lovespeake, founded by Pav and Baya, recorded their debut album in a barn deep within the woods outside Oslo. At the barn, dubbed Badminton Bay, Pav and Baya merged with long-time producer & artist Jonas Raabe to create Lovespeake's tight grooves, inspired by feel-good music from the past half-century. Strains of subgenres as diverse as chillwave, dream pop, and disco can be heard throughout their LP, which warmly fuses strains of psychedelia, funk and retro-electronic music into a distinct new brand of pop. Elsewhere on the debut, we hear Lovespeake embracing more subdued, silky sounds that could appeal to slow jam lovers just as strongly as they could to everyone who loved Tame Impala's Currents last year. Lovespeake's Pav and Baya were previously known as the duo behind the successful indie rock group Eye Emma Jedi – the only band to have six out of six singles playlisted on Norwegian radio station NRK P3. Picking up the torch as Lovespeake, their new six-piece live act vividly contrasts the plentiful colors of its graphics with the members' monochrome outfits. Lovespeake has so far brought their show to by:Larm, where it was met with massive acclaim, a similar reception to Eye Emma Jedi's festival sets at Reeperbahn and The Great Escape. The energy this massive group brings to a live setting simply can't be understated; it's the same drive that ensures that DNA will be remembered as one of the most ambitious psych pop releases in recent memory.
