‘’Self-proclaimed lover of a stutter.’’ Thats the tagline of musician, producer, DJ, and lyricist, Des Mallon (better known as Matthew Blake). At 23 years old, and hailing from Cork, Ireland, the Irishman has accumulated over 12 years of music production experience already. Having grown up with a keen ear to the emergence of dance music, Des’ traces his earliest inspirations back to video game soundtracks. Starting with an old iMac, Garageband and boyhood dreams, the Irishman’s journey has been far from uneventful. The ‘Matthew Blake’ project was created in 2013, and has grown at an eye watering pace. With over 5 million plays in less than two years from over 50 countries, features on various EDM blogs, and a rapidly growing social media following, Matthew Blake has well and truly been established. With a sound that shows influences from various genres, the Matthew Blake project is mainly rooted in the electro genre. The ‘self-proclaimed lover of a stutter’ does indeed feature many rhythmic stutter edits through his tracks, a trademark touch that adds a whole new level of dynamicity. 2016 has begun with a bang for the Irishman, with the launch of a new artist logo, social media design, and a much bigger, more rounded and club friendly sound.
