The Experience

The Experience is a Jimi Hendrix inspired psychedelic blues rock band based out of southeastern Connecticut.

Originally formed in the early 2000s under the name Psychedelica, the roots of the band began years earlier when lead guitarist Desland was introduced to Jimi Hendrix at just ten years old. What started as fascination quickly became obsession, as he and his brother Gilbert dove deep into Hendrix’s music, sound, energy, and spirit.

Rather than simply imitate Hendrix note for note, The Experience aims to channel the emotion, improvisation, freedom, and sonic power that made his music timeless. Influenced by artists ranging from The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, and Elvis Presley to modern acts like Kings of Leon, Kingfish, and Randy Hansen, the band blends psychedelic rock, blues, raw jams, and emotional live performances into something that feels both nostalgic and alive.

After the loss of the band’s original drummer JC years ago, the project eventually found new life again in 2026 with the regrouping of Desland and Gilbert alongside drummer Jeff May.

The Experience isn’t just about recreating songs. It’s about reminding people why Hendrix changed music forever. The band hopes audiences walk away not only entertained, but with a renewed appreciation for the beauty, creativity, and emotional depth behind the music.
