Acerca de este concierto
19:00 CST
Hispanic composer Nathan Felix will present his new immersive opera titled La Gran Esperanza at the Radius Center on Saturday March 6th at 7pm. La Gran Esperanza, sung in Spanish is a short opera exploring themes of hope, cultural identity, and the search for belonging.
Felix tells a story loosely inspired by former MLB player, Freddie Benavidez, who inspired and gave hope to a generation of Hispanic youth searching for belonging and cultural identity in the border town of Laredo Texas. Benavides is widely regarded as the first professional athlete from Laredo. Vocalists and musicians perform live throughout the museum, surrounding audiences with sound, guiding them through the performance, and making visitors part of the experience.

Biografía del artista
Texas born artist, Nathan Felix has plied his trade on both sides of the Atlantic, but he’s never been closer to his home state of Texas. The big skies and alpine mountains of West Texas have called to him, singing of romantic sunsets, lost loves, and Lone Star beers soaking up the resulting tears. Inspired by the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker, Gene Campell and Leonard Cohen, Felix’s sound is best described as South Texas honky-tonkin’ meets Nashville boot-scootin’
