Artist bio
Weird Science is a New Wave revue based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, dedicated to recreating the unmistakable sound and atmosphere of the early MTV era, when music television shaped culture and synthesizers defined a new sonic landscape. Inspired by the moment when Walkmans were clipped to every belt, VHS tapes blinked 12:00 beneath living room TVs, and Friday nights meant arcades, mixtapes, and waiting to see what debuted next on MTV, Weird Science delivers an authentic tribute to the artists who defined one of music’s most influential decades.
Featuring a setlist that draws from iconic acts such as Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Cure, U2, R.E.M., INXS, The Cars, and Tears for Fears, the band faithfully captures the textures, tones, and style that made the early 1980s a turning point in popular music. From analog synthesizers and chorus-drenched guitars to pulsing basslines and unmistakable vocal hooks, Weird Science recreates the sound that filled boom boxes, lit up cathode-ray television screens, and turned late-night shows like MTV’s 120 Minutes into lifelines for a new generation of fans.
Known for their attention to detail and engaging live presence, Weird Science connects with audiences who remember the anticipation of a favorite video debut, the glow of neon dance floors, and the cinematic mood of a John Hughes soundtrack echoing through darkened theaters. Their performances evoke the spirit of underground clubs, college radio, and the moment alternative music crossed into the mainstream and changed everything.
Whether performing at festivals, theaters, clubs, or private events, Weird Science delivers a nostalgic and immersive experience that transports audiences back to when the future sounded like synthesizers and possibility.
Weird Science doesn’t just perform the music. They recreate the moment.
