Si hablamos de historia de Rap mexicano uno de los nombres imprescindibles es el de Jezzy P, rapera oriunda de Ecatepec, Edo de México y una de las primeras mujeres que incursionaron en este género desde 1998. Su sonido va desde el G-funk, el Gangsta Rap evolucionando a un estilo llamado Rap Gótico por su sonido más oscuro. Artista hip hop independiente, tallerista, gestora y activista cultural, dirige el Colectivo Mujeres Trabajando y el Festival Amazonas Urbanas. Su trabajo se puede escuchar en soundtrack de series como Ingobernable (Netflix), Capadocia (HBO), Mary Kills People; películas como Safehouse, Ultimate Sacrifices o telenovelas como Corazones al límite (Televisa) entre otras.

Jezzy P is one of the most important figures in female rap throughout Latin America. Her sound ranges from G-funk, Gangsta Rap to a new style that she calls Dark Rap a mix of Synth wave and Darkwave overtones with dark lyrics. She is recognized as one of the pioneers of this musical genre in Mexico, having formed part of the country’s first generation of rappers in the 1990’s. Currently one of the most relevant artists in independent hip hop, she has worked non-stop in the music scene for the past 20 years; bringing her talent and unique style to stages throughout the continent. Her work can be heard on the soundtrack of series such as Ingobernable, Capadocia, Mary Kills People; films like Safehouse, Ultimate Sacrifices or mexican telenovelas like Corazones al límite among others.
