Acerca de este concierto
On November 2nd at Polaris Hall, Portland-based Chicano rocker Joshua Josué will host his 3rd Annual Día De Los Muertos Concert, an evening of remembrance, rhythm, and Chicano rock. This year’s celebration will feature special guests Delgado Y Los Conejos De Amor and The Ghost of James Jones, creating a night rich in musical tribute and cultural pride.
Joshua Josué, known for his evocative blend of Chicano rock and Americana, continues the tradition of honoring his heritage and departed loved ones through music with this annual celebration. His Día De Los Muertos concerts have become a beloved Portland tradition, offering an emotionally resonant, dance-filled homage to ancestry, storytelling, and community.
“This Día De Los Muertos concert is one of the most significant shows of the year for me,” says Josué. “It gives me a chance to pay homage to my Latino culture and Mexican roots, and celebrate—through music—all of the friends and loved ones who've moved on to the great unknown. I’m honored to share this night with incredible Portland musicians like Delgado Y Los Conejos De Amor and The Ghost of James Jones. As always, I’ll also be paying special tribute to my grandfather’s band, Jesse León and his Tropicana Orchestra, one of the premier Latin groups in Southern California in the 1940s. It’s a way to keep the spirits alive—and dancing.”
Fresh off the release of his debut full-length album Beneath the Sand (Electric CholoLand Records), Josué will perform songs from the record. His sound—a fusion of dusty Americana and Chicano soul—draws comparisons to Los Lobos, Enrique Bunbury, Steve Earle, and Alejandro Escovedo, offering listeners a heartfelt journey through love, loss, and cultural identity.
Recorded in the Mojave Desert, Beneath the Sand features an all-star lineup of musicians, including Roly Salley(GRAMMY-winning songwriter, Chris Isaak Band), Mitch Marine (Dwight Yoakam), Hershel Yatovitz (Chris Isaak), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Joel Guzmán (Los Super Seven), and Murry Hammond (The Old 97’s). The album—written largely on the road across Mexico and Central America—delivers cinematic lyrics in both English and Spanish, capturing the spiritual and sonic landscapes that shaped Josué’s artistic vision.
With two tracks already under GRAMMY consideration, Beneath the Sand is garnering national attention for its unique blend of genres and emotional storytelling. The Día De Los Muertos concert at Polaris Hall promises to bring that same spirit to life—live, loud, and filled with love.
