Toen Rokus Maasland, zanger van The Bowery, vorig jaar in Nashville was had hij een missie: Een EP schrijven en opnemen, getiteld: “All You Weary” met daarop zes songs gebaseerd op Psalm 13. Hij besloot dit te doen aan de hand van fictieve verhalen. De karakters uit deze verhalen kwamen door die songs zo tot leven dat Maasland de verhalen uitschreef en samen met de liedteksten in een boek uitbracht (“Allen Die Vermoeid & Belast Zijn”).
Dit najaar en het voorjaar van 2025 gaat The Bowery, vergezeld van een band met topmuzikanten, de theaters in. Reis mee door de Country- en Americana invloeden van de muziek en laat verhalenverteller Rokus je meenemen naar een plek van hoop en geloof te midden van gebrokenheid. Een avond waarop niet alleen de nieuwe Nashville songs met bijbehorende verhalen langskomen, maar waar natuurlijk ook de bekende en minder bekende The Bowery songs in een nieuw jasje worden gestoken. The Bowery Biography
The Bowery is a Dutch band, founded in 2016. The name is based on a district with the same name in New York, that started with the wonderful idea of a luxurious neighbourhood full of bars and theaters. It quickly went downhill and soon there were gangs and it became a mess. “Sounds a bit like the earth,” said singer Rokus. “It was once the intention to be so beautiful, but the residents themselves have made a mess of it.” And that is how the band name of The Bowery came into being. The songs aren't standard songs about love and heartbreak. No, the songs from The Bowery are about real life, as many know it: pure and with a raw edge. About doubt, pain and sadness, but also about hope and faith. Never intended to give an answer, more to share and sometimes to put something in motion in the mind of the listener.The sound of The Bowery underlines that story: a raw Springsteen sound and delicious unpolished guitar sound. In May 2018 they released their debut album. On vinyl, because: “Nobody has a cassette player nowadays.” In 2020 they released their second album 'Mountains & Valleys'. In september 2022, followed by their 3rd album, 'Time & Again' and in 2024 The Bowery released an EP, written & recorded in Nashville, TN, that came together with a book: "All You Weary".
