This was one of those rare evenings in which there was a palpable connection between the artists and the audience, resulting in an exceptional performance. Zach Bartholomew is a thoughtful and highly creative pianist who writes unique compositions and executes them with verve. He explains his compositions to the audience, thus providing insight into the creative process. Bassist Marty Quinn was solid and provided two noteworthy solos, and Rodolfo Zuniga was amazing on drums. Especially enjoyable was Bartholomew's composition, "Midnight Neferty" (sic) which he should record. I've been attending jazz performances for many decades and have heard many of the greats, and this was truly a memorable evening.
