About this concert
The symphonic music of Anna Clyne, one of the most relevant British composers today, will be heard for the first time in the Basque Country under the direction of Lina González-Granados, the award-winning Colombian-American conductor, a student of Riccardo Muti and linked to the Los Angeles Opera. In This Midnight Hour, Clyne draws inspiration from poems by Juan Ramón Jiménez and Charles Baudelaire. Alban Gerhardt will then return to the Basque stages, after his last collaboration with the Basque National Orchestra in 2016. This time, the extraordinary German cellist will tackle Edouard Lalo's brilliant and passionate Cello Concerto. Contemporary to Lalo's concert, but of a very different nature, the evening will culminate with Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 7. A score which, although it maintains the folkloric flavour that is the Bohemian composer's hallmark, is also the most tense and dramatic of his symphonic cycle.
Featured Repertoire:
Clyne - This Midnight Hour
Lalo - Cello Concerto
Dvorak - Symphony No.7
