Tilly Valentine Biography

Hailed for “truly developing her own sound" (Wonderland), rising independent artist Tilly Valentine has a string of triumphant self-releases and eagerly awaited new tracks.

The Oxfordshire-born artist made the move to London when she was aged 16 to enrol in the esteemed BRIT School. Adjusting to her new life away from her loved ones, she reached out to producers over SoundCloud and collaborated from across the globe. Her early journey also involved performing backing vocals for Mimi Webb, Grace Davies, Rod Stewart and Sam Smith at Wembley Arena, alongside working on projects with DJ Fresh, Lewis Watson and iiola (formerly Shannon Saunders).

Since then, Valentine’s “beautiful pop music” (BBC Radio 6 Music) has made waves while garnering millions of streams and soothing the ears of tastemakers across BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 Music, The Hot List, Jazz FM, The BBC Introducing Mixtape and most recently BBC Radio 1’s Tip of the Week.

Valentine’s diverse soundscape drifts between mellow and soulful works to playful pop tracks, classed as "the type of quirky you can pair with a coffee or party”. Her angelic voice has been approved by the likes of Anne-Marie, YUNGBLUD, Jamz Supernova, Huw Stephens, Nick Grimshaw, Matt Edmondson, Mollie King and more.

Being recognised for her often conversational lyrics, the British artist attracted attention with her edbl collaboration on their multi-million streamed love song, ‘Table for Two’, and she has since released her debut compilation album on vinyl in Japan. The soulful artist is no stranger to the stage, having performed at her hometown venues O2 Academy in Oxford, Truck Festival, as well as London’s prestigious Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Jazz Cafe and tour slots alongside Submotion Orchestra, Hollie Cook, Billy Lockett and Skinny Living.

Walking a tightrope between new discovery and mass appeal, Nightshift Magazine describes Tilly Valentine’s music as “ready for the big, wide world of pop and what a treat it is for all those that like to rest upon its shores”.
