The band consists of blues-rock guitar connoisseur Randall Penn on vocals and guitar, multi-instrumentalist Michael Cerveris on guitar and keys, master jazz enthusiast Gerald Homme on the alto, tenor, and soprano saxophones and ewi, and the funk-gospel rhythmic juggernaut pairing of Ryan Black on bass guitar and Jordan Allen on drums. Made up of members with various musical backgrounds, The Sun Champs focused their mission on writing and performing their own musical compositions and constantly challenging their own ideas in order to create a seamless live show, which has been described as a thrilling multi-genre jam session.
