Polly Panic Biography
“Jenette Mackie of Polly Panic wields the cello like an ax, wails like a rock goddess, and sends us straight up to the ether ... It’s an intense and unique journey.” (Meeghan Kane, Unsweetened Magazine, 2018.)
Polly Panic is front-woman and creator Jenette Mackie on cello, vocals and loop-station, and drummer Chris Medrano.
Classically trained but shaped by her love of rock and blues, Mackie formed Polly Panic in 2006. She has released three full-length albums -- Painkiller (2006), Fragment (2012), and Losing Form (2018). Polly Panic is currently working on another album to be released in late 2022.
When not playing shows up and down the East Coast or recording music for Polly Panic, Mackie has toured as part of the ground-breaking cello-rock band Rasputina, created music for a variety of performance-art and dance pieces, and has provided cello in the studio and on stage for a diverse array of artists, including poets, metal bands, and rappers.
“This is beautiful, breathtaking, killer punk rock and roll.” (Phil King, AudioFuzz, 2018)
“Her presentation, sound and lyrics are at once soft and steel as she shares her life story with us.” (Victoria Pearson, Music News and Reviews, 2018)
