The Driveway Drinkers Biography
The Driveway Drinkers began when Candice Maintz and Matt Stropes met as neighbors on the outskirts of Kansas City. A product of many nights of driveway fire-pits and middle-aged, suburban debauchery along with years of playing in Americana and alt. rock bands. With Candice's one-of-a-kind voice and the unique tone of Matt's pedal steel, the sound was already unlike anything else out there. Dave Stropes joined adding another songwriter, a second vocalist, and the sounds of mandolin, guitar, and bass. Larry Peery soon joined the mix bringing his lead guitar skills and perfectionist mindset. The final piece of the puzzle was Sean Gilliam (an old drummer friend from Dave and Matt's early Speak Easy days) on drums. The result is a full, rich sound built on the foundation of two strong vocalists and the unmistakable sound of pedal steel.
