THE JACKSON COUNTY KILLS

Like many of the bands that have influenced young people to pick up a guitar, the Jackson County Kills are rooted in the fertile soil of “traditional” American music. This musical landscape is riddled with contradictions that reflect the hard truths of living. It’s these contradictions recognized that cause this idiom to be so compelling. The hardscrabble twang of Hillbilly songs, the undeniable beat of the Blues, Gospel’s desperate cry for redemption and the violent exuberance of Rock and Roll are all reflected in this sound; something new yet deeply recognizable and relatable. Songs that tap into the working class origins of most of the great practitioners of such songs. One part Everly Brothers, one part Creedence Clearwater Revival, one part Ramones and all the way, undeniably, immersed in the life of the barroom entertainer, the Jackson County Kills are veteran musicians that have paid their dues and their performances prove it.
