Mason Dixon Hobos (Official Fan Site) Biography

The Rockabilly and Rock’n’Roll band Mason Dixon Hobos was founded in 1989 and had their first official gig on May 5, 1990. With over 30 years on stage, they are one of the oldest German rockabilly bands still performing live.

Founding Members were Markus Meggle, Holger Münch, Mathias Noll and Christian Pinter.

In 1991, Mathias Noll quit and his replacement on double bass became Heiko “Mr. Slappin' Suspender” Albrecht. The first album, Messers, was produced and released by Andy Widder for Part Records.

In early 1992, the lineup expanded and Oliver Heydenreich joined on second guitar. In March 1994, the band recorded their second record “Live at the Pool” live at the Schwimmbad Musikclub in Heidelberg. The bass player Heiko left the band for health reasons and from now on, Karl Klee (later: Up To Vegas, Frantic Flintstones) stood at the double bass. Tours and gigs in Europe and abroad followed.

From 1992 until the end of 1995 the “Hobos” played countless gigs, which finally led to the big quarrel and breakup of the band.

The trigger for the comeback was the reunion at the Rockabilly Weekender Walldorf, which was actually planned for only one gig, as a thank you to Andy Widder. In the following years there were several reshuffles on the guitars, with the band always on tour and playing live concerts. In 2015, the band released their album “Big Thrill”, which contains a mixture of original songs and cover versions.
