Debra Devi Biography
“Imagine you're preparing a list of today’s top female blues/rock guitarists. No doubt you'll include Bonnie Raitt, Samantha Fish, Susan Tedeschi and Ana Popovic. If you don’t include Debra Devi, your list is not complete."
— American Blues Scene
Debra Devi plays "dreamy blues-rockers and blistering psychedelic jams" (Relix) flavored with her soulful voice and expressive guitar playing. Her growing acclaim as "one of the most remarkable guitarists on the East Coast." (Good Times) has led to festival dates from Memphis to Montana. She's opened for Ana Popovic, Jesse Malin, Joan Osborne, Joe Louis Walker and more.
Devi's live EP, Jamification Station Vol. 1, reached #5 on the Relix/Jambands.com Top 30 Radio Chart, staying on the chart for three months.
Former Gov't Mule bassist Jorgen Carlsson joined Devi on her previous EP A Zillion Stars Overhead. Americana Highways calls their collaboration "exciting and mesmerizing."
Live, Devi leads a four-piece band " equally adept at soulful rockers and sprawling jams" (NY Music Daily). She endorses Homestead Amplifiers, which supplies amps to Gov’t Mule, Jimmy Herring and Susan Tedeschi.
Devi's book The Language of the Blues: From Alcorub to Zuzu (foreword by Dr. John) won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award, and high praise from Bonnie Raitt and Joe Bonamassa. Devi gives her popular "Language of the Blues" talk at festivals, universities, theaters and venues.
