About this concert
The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band & The Dead South Thu • Dec 12 • 7:00 PM The Fillmore Detroit 2115 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201 (313) 961-5451 Three time BMA nominee's The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are "the greatest front-porch blues band in the world." They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider to be the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their latest record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). The record is critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Relix, Popmatters, Guitar World, American Songwriter, No Depression, Glide, Wide Open Country, Paste, American Blues Scene and many more!

I have a wide selection of genres i enjoy but generally listen and go to see pretty edgy or metal stuff and even a negative bastard like me could not help but find their love and passion for music to be contagious. The put everything into every single song they play and every single song is a pure delight. Made me a believer in blues music itself being a fresh and alive thing. The opening artist Nat Myers was personable and fantastic to hear as well and I am glad they had him warming up the crowd. I will look forward to seeing more of his stuff and I will certainly take every opportunity to see this Big Damn Band again. Nice collection of guitars old dude plays too.
