About this concert
Week 3 of T. Thomason's Tuesday night November residency at Hugh's Room Live's new location - 296 Broadview Ave, Toronto, ON! On November 21st, join T. for a songwriter's circle, sharing the stage with the immensely talented Tafari Anthony and . This evening will provide a unique opportunity to witness the creative process of these gifted musicians, complemented by captivating drag performances from Clarke Kunt. Doors @ 7pm, show @ 8pm PWYC tickets available for trans folks T. Thomason has captured audiences with high energy, emotional indie pop performances in Canada and beyond since his teenage years. A passionate advocate for queer/trans rights, T. aims to create life affirming, joyful experiences for his community (& everyone else) through music. His songs build from ballad to banger, balance confession, confrontation & resolution, & lay it all bare. Tafari Anthony (pronounced: tah-far-eye) is a JUNO nominated Toronto-based pop singer-songwriter and producer. He has written and produced for many artists including Tanika Charles, Drag Race icons Priyanka and Katya, and The Fretless (Feat. Nuela Charles). As a solo artist Tafari has self-released three EPs including The Way You See Me (2020) which was nominated for Adult Contemporary Album of The Year at the 2022 JUNO Awards. A constant in Tafari’s releases is his powerfully expansive range, dynamic vocal texture, and commitment to putting queer love and relationships at the forefront of his songs. Thanya Iyer is both a person and a band. Thanya Iyer the person, is 1/3 of Thanya Iyer the band. The other 2/3s are made up of Alex, Dan, and other great friends. Thanya Iyer (the band) has done a lot (released an album, released a mixtape, played at festivals, played in every time zone in North America, etc). Thanya Iyer (the person) has done all this and then some. Thanya Iyer (the person) is a very busy person. Thanya Iyer (the band) is a very busy band and the sound has evolved to reflect this. Thanya Iyer (the band) struggles to define their music (only when asked, they don't think about it the rest of the time) and rather than recite a list of genres and sub-genres, they would rather you just listen and tell them. But for the lazy (or busy) people out there maybe Future-Folk is accurate (or vague) enough? Thanya Iyer (the person and the band) will continue her and their never-ending quest to bring joy to those they come in contact with. Using music, conversation, green tea, and miscellaneous. Clarke Kunt is your local toxic jock. His big three? Twunk sun, daddy rising, cancer moon. Like a trans Chad Michael Murray and MILF Julia Roberts had an intellectual love child. Clarke’s first performance won the April 2023 Halifax Drag Open Stage, and they’ve since performed in Toronto and across Nova Scotia. Some of their work can be seen @clarkekuntt on Instagram.

T. Thomason Biography

T. Thomason is a pop artist living between Halifax and Toronto. T. has impressed fans with his emotional and highly energetic live performances for over a decade at festivals like The Great Escape, FOCUS Wales, Parliament Hill’s Canada Day, POP Montreal, Pride Toronto, Reeperbahn Festival, Canadian Music Week, Milwaukee Summerfest, and more.
The lead up to the release of T.’s self-titled album in September 2019 was a roller coaster. He was a winner on season 2 of CTV’s The Launch, which landed his launched single “Hope” on top 40 radio, Spotify Editorial playlists like New Music Friday Canada, and put T. on stage at the Bell Centre with Quebec’s reigning pop queen and his mentor, Marie-Mai.
T.’s recent self-titled album was described by Halifax’s The Coast as “equal parts scar tissue and sparkles”. Deeply vulnerable and honest, it is a must-hear for anyone who’s wondered who they are and what’s to come.
In 2020 T. released his “Part II Project”, a series of reimagined versions of singles from his album, featuring mentors and champions of his career. Rose Cousins (King of Spades Part II), Ria Mae (Loser Part II), Ivan Coyote (Birdsong Part II), and Sarah McLachlan (Bliss Part II) each lent their unique talents to the project. The singles have garnered praise from Tom Power on CBC’s Q, American Songwriter Magazine, and CTV’s eTalk.
