Doors: 6pm Show: 7pm “Home Is Here” is the second annual gathering of Austin musicians benefitting Casa Marianella, a local shelter for men, women, and children fleeing terror, torture, and political persecution in their home countries. Performers this year include Shakey Graves, Shawn Colvin, Nina Diaz (of Girl in a Coma), Eritrean musicians Yowhannes Tquab (aka Wedi Tikabo) and Tekle Mezghebe, and special guests. Casa Marianella has been in Austin since 1986, starting with a single house and growing into a network of shelters providing safe refuge, legal support, medical assistance, and educational opportunities to thousands of people from countries such as Venezuela, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Russia. Casa helps them rebuild their lives and find a new place in the world. For many of them, home is here in Austin, Texas. The funds from this year’s concert will go to support Casa’s legal clinic, which is very busy these days.

I was a huge fan of Shakey’s style and aura in his music, and i traveled from cali to see him, but i was absolutely blown away by his performance and the way he interacted with audiences and put a twist on all his songs to make us all feel immersed in the experience. He interacted with many people in the audience (me included) weather it was talking to them or just eye contact and maybe a point. His songs have a certain style that touches my soul and i was in awe at his ability to transfer that to the stage. The best part was that i could tell he was having an absolute blast up there and he seemed to be exactly where he wanted to be. i will be going to see shakey again as soon as i can, will hopefully see yall at the shoreline in August 🤙🏼🤙🏼
