Grand Funk Railroad

Loved the concert but was disappointed because we could not purchase any merchandise of the band.

The best show. The best sound the best everything. Perfect night. Perfect show. Grandfather's awesome!!

They sound as good today as they did in the '70s. Amazing show great venue

The venue listing in incorrect. There was no "Renfro Valley Barn Dance." This show took place at the New Barn Theatre at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center. That said, it was a great show. I couldn't believe that this iconic act was playing at this small venue within 45 minutes of me. How could I not attend? Yes, Mark Farner left in 1998, but the other two original members (Don Brewer on drums/percussion and vocals, Mel Schacher on bass) still perform as Grand Funk Railroad. The current lead singer (Max Carl) did stint with .38 Special in the '80s (he sang lead and co-wrote "Second Chance,' which Grand Funk Railroad performs in concert) and the lead guitarist for this show was Bruce Kulick, who played lead guitar with KISS from 1984-1996 (he has since departed Grand Funk after a 23-year tenure). You heard all of the hits and a few deep cuts. As a casual fan, I was satisfied; a hardcore fan might have been disappointed in some of the choices for the set.

I'd rate it 3 1/2 stars overall. I love GFR, as I grew up in Detroit. They do miss Mark, though, the new singer had a tough job to do to match him. And of course they're getting up in age. Seeing them brought back a lot of great memories, and I wish them all well!

With this show I was able to cross (2) bands off my "Bucket List" ..... Grand Funk Railroad and Jefferson Starship. BOTH bands sounded great and had lots of energy. They kept the crowd engaged during their performances.

Grand Funk Railroad is another one of those bands that I don't really listen to in my usual music playing, but will go see live any chance I get. I grew up with the music, though, and still enjoy it. They put on a great show every time. Full disclosure, however, I only drove 2 hours for the show due to Bruce Kulick, as he's been my favorite guitarist since '84. But of course I watched and enjoyed everyone. The only drawback was the fact that due a long time, the audience was sitting, which drives me crazy! Finally everyone did stand up so I could dance as I need to do when the music is that good.

A really enjoyable concert in Van Wert, Ohio. First time able to see them in my 63 years of life. No disappointment.

Great show by GFR, only issue was keyboard was placed on stage blocking left side audience's view of both Don and Mel, only able to see their heads! Move that keyboard mates!

The set was short and even shorter on Mark Farner era material. Don Brewer still drums and sings with the same intensity as his 25 year old self, but this set had too many long meandering guitar solos and not enough actual songs. And at less than 90 minutes with no encore, seemed a railroad that left the tracks with many more potential miles to go.

Definitely see them again.they played there hearts out .and they seem to enjoy performing and involved the audience.had you hopping from the first song.great show

Great show! The band was incredibly tight and they played all their hits. Bruce Kulick is a monster on lead guitar! Loved his playing of the National Anthem!!!!

A really fun band to watch! Still great voices after 50 years! Fun to see Bruce Kulick on guitar.

Great show, but levels of music were not good. vocals way to low. Still had a great time.

Grand Funk was truly awesome. I give them credit. They only played 7 songs. But the ones they played were great. They were on our bucket list and truly thank them for a memorable event! Go Grand Funk Railroad! You are an American Band!

GFR sounded fabulous! Venue is lame...fans asked to sit down during show!! What’s that about? It’s a CONCERT!! Would see band again at a better venue!!
