About this concert
The 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize Awards Show will take place on Thursday 19th September at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
The Hyundai Mercury Prize promotes the best of UK music and the artists who produce it. This is done through the celebration of the 12 ‘Albums of the Year’, recognising artistic achievement across a range of contemporary music genres.
The event will feature live performances from many of the shortlisted artists and the evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize for ‘Album of the Year’. The winner is decided by the judging panel on the day of the Awards Show.

"Northampton born and bred, slowthai is the rapper speaking out for a generation of kids who’ve been ignored for too long by the powers that be.
His lyrics are cut through with a rawness and unflinching honesty that has the listener hanging on every elongated word (the slowthai moniker comes from a childhood nickname, born out of friends commenting on his slow, drawled speech). He speaks directly to a generation of kids swinging between anger and apathy at the unsettled times they’ve found themselves born into."
