At the height of his career – with sold out tours across New Zealand, a successful acting and television career and enjoying fame as one of New Zealand’s most loved personalities, Stan was struck with a deliberating hereditary disease that had claimed 25 members of his family. Through sheer strength and the unfailing love and support from family and fans across New Zealand, Stan survived and has very definite plans to keep working, touring and enjoying every single day of his life. Stan’s journey through surgery and recovery was chronicled in the 2018 documentary STAN, which won 13 awards at the Doc Edge International Documentary Film Festival awards and has screened on the Nine Network in Australia.Stan Walker came to the attention of Australian music lovers when he won the 2009 season of Australian Idol.  Stan has gone on to release several hit albums and singles in Australia and New Zealand.
