Anna Clendening Biography

Anna Clendening’s music feels like you’re bouncing around inside of her head—in the best way possible.

Akin to a super ball on a schoolyard wall, it pings between moments of blissful and weightless elation, the shared comfort of heartbreak, and the glorious freedom that comes with telling an ex to go err…away. After generating nearly half-a-billion streams and earning widespread praise from Billboard, Ones To Watch, and more, the gold-selling Chapel Hill-born and Nashville-based singer and songwriter perfects her very own brand of gleefully chaotic pop on her forthcoming third EP due this summer.

By spending some time with Anna, you’ll instantly realize she’s a lot like you.

“We’re all very similar,” she observes. “Our experiences, while different, are not isolated. People are going through the same things to not feel alone. When I was first diagnosed with anxiety, I thought I was crazy. I felt like nobody else knew what was going on, and it wasn’t happening to anyone but me. With my music and platform as an artist, I want to be the person I needed when I was 13- or 14-years-old. That’s all I want to do as long as I’m alive.”

She’s done a pretty darn good job of it so far. Back in 2017, she made waves with “Boys Like You.” Her breakout single eventually earned a platinum certification from the RIAA. It also set the stage for 2019’s waves EP highlighted by fan favorites such as “Dead End” and “Invisible,” gathering hundreds of millions of streams. Along the way, she sold out shows and collaborated with everyone from Illenium and Lost Kings to Matoma, John K, and Munn. Signing to Atlantic Records during 2020, her Evolve EP arrived to applause from American Songwriter, Flaunt, Idolator, and more. In 2021, she traded Los Angeles for Nashville and embraced herself as both an artist and a songwriter.
