Clavvs Biography

Amber Renee and Graham Marsh are CLAVVS, a Brooklyn-based duo who make hook-laden indie dance songs rich with warm electronic elements and unusual organic percussion. The duo met at a house party and soon became friends and collaborators, blending Graham’s Grammy-winning experience working with artists like Gnarls Barkley, Kid Cudi and Lauryn Hill with Amber’s off-kilter pop songs and singular vocals. CLAVVS have since amassed millions of streams on Spotify and Apple Music, with songs landing in TV shows like Netflix’ You and Locke and Key, among others. The duo have also played shows all across North America, sharing a stage with artists like Ibeyi, Baio and Kevin Garrett.

CLAVVS’ sophomore album O, out July 29th via their own label Turn to Wind Recordings, finds Amber and Graham getting playful and even more personal. Embracing movement, joy and self-acceptance in their dance-tinged alt pop, O is an invitation to dance through the hard times. Straddling the line between joy and catharsis, the album explores the way those two things can fold into one another. “I went back to the beginning of my story and I processed a lot of old trauma by making dance songs for my past self,” Amber explains. “Healing is like this ever-evolving, never-ending, imperfect dance we’re all doing all the time,” she adds with a laugh. “And as soon as you think you’re done, it just starts all over again!”

CLAVVS have previously released two EPs, 2016’s halfblood and 2019’s critically-acclaimed No Saviors, as well as their 2017 debut World Underwater. Their music has also been featured in Netflix’s Warrior Nun, Tiny Pretty Things, Younger, and The CW’s Charmed. Catch them on tour with Elder Island in North America this fall.
