Black Tie Stereo Biography
Scranton, Pennsylvania-based four-piece Black Tie Stereo have been bringing their indie-pop flair to the music world since 2014. Members Stephen Murphy, George Pachucy, Aaron Kovalich, and Jesse Morvan have been performing together since their high school days and evolving their sound ever since.
The group released their debut self-titled EP in 2014; a fervent and definitive expression of all of the members’ influences. Their sophomore EP, DoYOU, was released in Fall 2017, produced by Mark Mazzetti (A&R and production for Sting, Janet Jackson, John Mayer) and recorded and mixed by Brian Scheuble (U2, Sheryl Crow, Elton John). Their latest releases, “Cracked Screens” and “Could You Be Mine” are the band’s first ventures into self-production, utilizing the vast experience learned in their previous releases.
The band has racked up some impressive accolades over the years, including Best Pop/Top 40 Act at the Steamtown Music Awards in 2016 and Best Live Performer in 2018. Additionally, they’ve played a variety of festivals, including FuzzFest in Scranton, PA, Penn State’s THON, and Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA, and have opened for acts such as Milky Chance, Panic! At the Disco, Weezer, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, K.Flay, and Lewis Del Mar.
