Acerca De Ryan Berg
Ryan Berg grew up in East Dallas, with a strong blues influence that clearly resonates in his music.
Ryan combines elements of blues and soul with intimate acoustic driven performances. His writing explores the challenges of life, digging into the depths of his journey. With a smoky, rich voice and a stacked backing band, he combines a vintage sound with soulful melodies.
Ryan was introduced to music at a young age. Through singing in church, performing in theater and the school choir, Ryan felt music was his calling. To expand his musical prowess, Ryan ventured to Texas State University to study vocal performance.
In 2013, Ryan began playing the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with lead guitarist, Glen Fleischman and drummer, Charles Alexander. Soon after, Ryan started collaborating with several local artists, as well as The Mammoths, based in Austin.
Ryan released his debut full-length album titled The Velvet Ears in 2017. The songs are a powerful mix of raw vocals, deeply personal lyrics and soulful melodies. Since then, Ryan has been a full-time musician playing gigs both with his band and acoustically as a solo artist.
In 2020, Ryan appeared on Season 19 of The Voice (US). Ryan is currently writing new music and planning a US tour for 2021 - 2022.
"The raw rip of the guitar followed by a voice that had me reacting, “You have got to be kidding.” This was what I was looking for and I had to book him."
Brandon Novara - Lifestyle Frisco
"The familiar voice of Ryan Berg has been heard across music venues in the Dallas area since his rise to local stardom in recent years. With the release of his debut album, The Velvet Ears, Berg takes listeners on a journey of growth and discovery."
Allison Plake - Dallas Observer
"Ryan Berg is a spirited front man and commands the stage when performing his expertise. He knows the value of dynamics and keeps the energy fresh and loose. The songs are continuously growing and changing with the mood of the times. The Velvet Ears are absolutely poised to be the next big thing out of Dallas."
Jackie Don Loe - Buddy Magazine
“Ryan Berg – “Pain” -“Thinking about my future and all there is is pain…” Before I could even write about this track, I had to share it with some personal friends. It’s just so damn heartbreaking you can’t keep it to yourself. The vocal is raw and real. The lyrics, though, will rip a hole in your heart. If you don’t feel something with this song… like a whole lot of pain from your own life… then I just don’t know. This is an incredible singer songwriter piece that is both blues, folk, and the epitome of the pain that human life is all about.”
