Acerca De Dizzy Dee
Dizzy Dee, one of Melbourne’s forefront solo reggae musical offerings with several number one hit singles such as ‘Never See We Fading’ ’Perfect Peace’ and ‘Time Shall Tell’ all topping the iTunes Charts upon release. Dizzy Dee whose real name is Desire was born in Zimbabwe and spent his early adulthood years living in Australia. Due to his multicultural upbringing he developed diverse musical references over the years which are expressed in his brand of organic, Roots Reggae music mixed with Hip Hop, Afro beat and Rhythm & Blues elements. Armed with an infectious set of hooks, witty, insightful lyricism and eclectic musical tastes, he forms his own unique sound.
His major break came in 2014 with a single featuring Jamaican reggae star, Torch "Never See We Fading" an ABRA Records release that attracted major labels. VP Records first talked to the artist in 2015 and singed a distribution deal in 2016 through VPAL Music. Dizzy Dee joins StoneBwoy and Patoranking as one of the few African born reggae artists signed to the label along big names such as Gyptian, Sean Paul, Beres Hammond to name a few. His first release under the label was Time Shall Tell EP' which ws released on the 22nd July 2016 debuting #2 in the Australian Roots and Reggae Top Chart. The 6-tracks set gathered musicians and producers from Jamaica, Romania, Canada, USA, Germany, Australia and Vanuatu to create a contemporary Reggae/Dancehall infused body of work that aims to crossover and introduce him to new markets also showcasing his progression since the release of his critically acclaimed single Never See We Fading, other noteworthy collaborations on the EP are Overcome featuring Beniton, Stay Focused with German songstress Saralène and Wake Up & Live featuring fellow Aussie Reggae artist Jah Tung and Vanuatu sensation Tujah also made the cut.
Then came ‘Perfect Peace' another collaboration with Torch featured on his Grammy listed album Self Reclaimed added another stone to the foundation receiving airplay from PBS & RTR FM in Australia, ZiFM in Zimbabwe, USWC in America, SplashFM in Nigeria, Homeboyz Radio in Kenya and in Jamaica. Dizzy Dee is currently working on an album to be released early 2017 with production from LionRiddims, ZJ Heno, Agent 86 and four Zimbabwean producers namely Oskid, Dj Tamuka, Jusa Dementor and MacDee. A collection of rich and varied songs with depth and strength from a catchy summer hit that is ‘All That I Need', to the sombre, laid back euphoria of ‘Cool It’.
A few performance highlights include opening for international acts such as Sean Paul, Richie Spice, Luciano, Timaya, Bracket and shared the stage with Beniton and Maxi Priest on his Easy To Love Australian Tour also touring Vanuatu with Jah Mason. More recently Dizzy has toured with Judgement Yard from Zimbabwe on their maiden tour of Australia. Dizzy has played at some of Australia's major festivals such as Womad in South Australia, Fringe in Western Australia , Rainbow Serpent in Victoria , Strawberry Fields in New South Wales and Island Vibes in Queensland.
