A supergroup cover band if there ever was one, Billy Likes Soda is the most kick-a$$, good-time, good-looking, atom-splitting, random eclectic-setlist…and yes, sarcastic…cover band to hit the CLE since the James Gang was butchering Dean Martin tunes back in the ‘60s. How else would you describe this collection of misfits? Like your favorite coffee, frontman Justin Chabek is equal parts strong, nutty and tasty. Guitarist Mike ‘MikeyRad’ Radzimski starred in Tony Rio & Relentless and Redneck Incorporated, among other influential bands. Heartthrob bassist Cody Willoughby (who, like the Beatles did with Lennon, we’re trying not to mention is married) has held the bottom for The Royal Skam, Oblivia and too many other great groups to mention for fear of an ink shortage. And drummer Greg Wereb has backed bands like the seminal CLE punk band The Subtones and Miss Amanda Jones. These guys’ collective years of band experience would dwarf anyone’s age…except maybe Kirk Douglas. Dude JUST. WON’T. DIE. Boasting a truly-random-but-equally-sweet setlist ranging from Bruno Mars, Beastie Boys, Green Day, Luke Bryan, Barenaked Ladies, Blink 182, Backstreet Boys, New Kids On The Block, Black-Eyed Peas, Weezer, Poison, Neil Diamond, Hanson, Cheap Trick, Billy Idol and Justin Timberlake (yes, this is just ONE band), these young men will tantalize your taste buds with equal parts musical skill, showmanship, humor, ‘n just enough schitck without being schticky. The band’s got eye candy for sure, ladies…but there’s also little beer guts there too, so don’t worry about feeling self-conscious in the crowd. Want to jump onstage and test your mettle by singing backup, dancing or playing tambourine? Play Stump The Band? See the guys play in matching zoot suits…or even shirtless (OK, maybe not shirtless…though pantsless can be had with some coaxing). Get your picture taken with a 7’-long inflatable alligator?
