The band was formed by guitarist Ben and bassist Hub, who met on their high school cross-country team, under the name "Half Past Dead". The decision to form a band came outside of a Five Knuckle concert when both were refused entry. Lesta was added for vocals and Dave, the school janitor, was welcomed into the band, allegedly because he was old enough to purchase alcohol for Ben and Hub both of whom were under the legal drinking age. The band used Ralstons friend, Mcaz as their drummer cos there was no one else in Newcastle who could play double time. Now "Pure Graft" like to play the occasional gig and get very drunk (apart from Ben). EITHER HUNGOVER OR DEEIN YOGA.
