At a Winter Wave show you are instantly transformed into a party atmosphere. The beer goes down a little faster and tastes a little better as the band whips around on stage. In an era clouded by drum machines and synthesized sonics, Winter Wave breaks through the fog with an unapologetic rock and roll sound from Jacksonville, FL. Brian Wilson falsettos are melded effortlessly with Josh Cobb's angsty baritone vocals and beefy guitars. Alex Dumas and Mark Daley nail down the gritty rhythm section of the band. The primitive rhythm makes you want to jump up and down and shout along with the endless hooks. Formed in 2013, the band members are no strangers to each other. They toured together in their high school punk band (My Getaway) for close to 7 years before calling it quits in 2009. In the meantime, frontman Josh Cobb was formulating the new sound that would later become Winter Wave. He was heavily influenced by the surf and garage rock of the 60s as well as alternative and grunge rockers of the 90s. After throwing together a few intentionally lo-fi demos, Josh enlisted Alex and Mark to join in. They didn't miss a beat and everybody was on board. Winter Wave's first full-length record entitled "Paranoia" is set to come out later this month on October 30th. The self-produced and self-released album is a direct representation of the energy and feelings that are conjured up from the live show. Many of the lyrics touch on the feeling of being an outsider and the struggle to accept that. Catchy hooks from songs like "Robbery" and "Paranoia" make you want to listen over and over again. The album ends with a surfy love song "Shipwreck" that is sure to top the next mixtape you make for your sweetheart.
