Acerca De Paul Groves
There's something about Paul Groves that makes you listen when he sings. Whether it's a country ballad or a whiskey drenched rocker, he sings with a conviction an honesty that will bring goose bumps to your skin.
Raised in Bourbon County, Kentucky, it seems that Groves was built for a rough and rowdy crowd. The former amateur bull rider spent his teen years breaking bones, healing scars, and doing DJ gigs with his dad on weekends in honky tonks. The DJ gigs allowed him to get his feet wet in front of crowds and acquire a taste for an extremely diverse vocabulary of music. He credits Garth Brooks, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakum, Off Spring, Boston, and Blink 182 as being his biggest influences. But, the plans of being a singer were nowhere in his mind. It wasn't until he enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 that he even thought of himself as a singer. "While in basic training I seemed to stay in trouble for singing when it wasn't the right time or place to do so. My Drill Sergeant would often call me out to sing in front of the entire platoon. So I had to do a decent job or all my buddies would give me a rough way to go for a few days." Says Groves. After his military service was over the singer spent the next few years kicking around in local bands and playing every talent contest he could get into.
In June of 2013 Paul Groves found himself with a busy schedule playing clubs and festivals throughout Kentucky. While building a loyal fan base in the region he inked a deal with CoEL Records. The debut album is set to release in July 2014 along with a slew of tour dates.
Some say it's the soil, some say it's the bourbon, and some say there's just something in the water in Kentucky that has bred such a illustrious list of talent that includes Loretta Lynn, Rickie Skaggs, and more. Paul Groves is just one more of many that will be added to that list. His high-energy shows and regular guy personality will be entertaining crowds for years to come.
