Acerca De Brad Bensko
Hailing from Boston, MA, Brad Bensko is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter, record producer and engineer who plays solo as well as with the likes of Paul Rishell, Annie Raines, and Kathleen Parks of Boston based band, Mojo Rodeo. Drawing from his love of 50s and 60s pop, American Songbook, and American Roots, Brad weaves these influences together to create fresh songs with ties to the past.
Ever since first listening to the Beatles at age seven, Brad had ambitions of playing music and writing songs, which led him to pursue playing out in his then local area of New London, CT, where he earned a 2010 New London "Whalie Award" of Best Performance for his song "Why Do You Do That?"
Brad left CT to attend Berklee School of Music in 2011, and graduated with a degree in Music Production and Engineering, with a Minor in Acoustics and Electronics. With experience and school under his belt, Bensko pursued production and analog recording, and eventually released his debut LP of original material, "Brad Bensko" in August of 2018.
Recorded on 1" 8 track analog tape, Bensko sought to record this record in the way his inspirations (Todd Rundgren, Paul McCartney, to name a few) did, by playing the majority of the instruments himself and engineering the record. The record was released August 24th at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly, RI, and received attention in the New London Day.
"'Brad Bensko' is a happily ambitious album of 12 concise, smart, pop-rock tunes, composed with heart and exuberence, oozing melody, and produced with a vibrant sonic gloss like warm autumn sunshine. With a lovely tenor voice a bit reminiscent of Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, Bensko's songs will always be instantly identifiable and are rife with riverine verse and chorus melodies."
-Rick Koster "The Day"
Brad Bensko also plays as one half of duo "Kat & Brad" with singer/songwriter/violinist Kathleen Parks (of Twisted Pine), who released their debut album in March 2019, half of which was recorded by Bensko. Together, the two have performed throughout New England, their travels taking them to the Norwich CT Rose Arts Festival Main Stage, and to the Winter Solstice Concert in Woodstock, NY, sharing the stage with the likes of Paul Rishell, Annie Raines, Happy Traum, and John Sebastian.
Bensko is now in the works of a follow up EP and immediately after, a second LP. Stay tuned for updates on these, and be sure to catch these songs at his live shows.
